19 Weeks! Our Little Mango!

We're over half way there and Greg and I can't wait to meet our little Mango!

Haiden is about 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces. He is covered with a protective layer of hair and oil protecting him against the amniotic fluid...imagine taking a 9 month bath without it! He is an active little Mango, rolling, turning and kicking throughout the day. His kicks are becoming more distinct and I am having no problems distinguishing them from regular tummy rumbles. Ho loves to kick when I lay down to sleep and it's an amazing experience to feel him before I doze off every night. I can't wait to meet him! He is even growing toothbuds and forming cartilage...our little one is growing so fast!

This weekend (and all last week) we have been preparing for the living room, kitchen and dining room remodel. Greg was hard at work all week long, taking down shelves and molding and ripping up floors to prepare. This weekend Mom, Dad, Mackie, Kathy and Frenchy came over to help us with the final details like moving all our stuff to the now full office and nursery and taking down pictures and socket plates. Every time we get the office and nursery clean and organized we take on another project where we fill them up again...I just don't understand it! :) Greg, Dad and Frenchy took down the molding and 70s wood paneling from the dining room and Greg burned it in the chiminea...he just loves that thing! After all that dust was stirred up, poor Greg couldn't even be in the house. We hadn't given it much thought before then but we decided we couldn't stay at the house during the remodel because Greg wouldn't be able to breathe. So Tommy and Gloria were nice enough to lend us their guest room for the week until we can go back and the dust has settled. Unfortunately we didn't catch the problem in time for Greg to avoid a mild sinus infection but he is taking medicine and getting better. He now has to wear a mask when he goes to the house.

I'll be happy when it's all over and done...I miss my house. I can't wait to see it completed...it'll feel like we've added 1000 sq. ft to the house...I am so excited! Here are the before pictures. We'll be going by daily to take progress pics...I can't wait to see the afters!

18 Weeks! Our Little Sweet Potato!

Well, we are 18 weeks and it's almost halfway over! Time is flying...and fast!

Haiden is about 5.5 inches long and 7 ounces. He spends his days yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing...some of which I can feel. He can hear a lot of what's going on in the outside world and he is beginning to be able to distinguish light and dark even though his eye lids are still fused shut. In the next few weeks Greg and I plan on trying out the flashlight trick...I'll let you know how it goes.

Over the weekend Greg and I were at the river. It was very relaxing and we got to spend some quality time with Tommy and Gloria. My appetite is coming back...and with a vengeance! I just couldn't stop eating, I never felt full. Hopefully that will taper off and as I get back to work this week I will probably become so busy with the day to day I won't notice the hunger like I did when I was just sitting around.

Things are going well. We begin the kitchen/living room/dining room remodel next week..well actually we will begin packing things and preparing for work this week and weekend but the workers will be here the 31st. I'd like to begin the staining and painting projects for Haiden's room in September (mid to late) and I'd like to have it completed by mid October. If you have any suggestions for a week or weekend you think would work well let me know...our calendar tends to fill up fast! It would be fine to work during the week, I won't need to be there so let me know if you are interested in getting a team together to tackle the nursery projects during the week. Any and all help would be SUPER appreciated!

17 Weeks! Our Little Onion…

I understand that when seasoned and cooked right onions can add a lot of flavor but lets face it, they are generally a stinky veggie and not one I want my son to be associated with so…lets call him a small sweet potato…

Our little sweet potato is about 5 inches long and weighs about 6 ounces. Haiden’s skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints. And you read it correctly…our little sweet potato is a BOY! Greg and I are so excited and can’t wait to meet little Mr. Haiden Hayes Pierce in January!

The party was a success and we are so thankful that everyone spent their Saturday afternoon celebrating with us. We had a great time! Thanks for bringing all the food and gifts, our little Haiden will be one spoiled baby! Now the work begins on painting and decorating the nursery and staining the furniture. I’ll let you know when we plan on doing those things and anyone who wants to help is more then welcome to join the party! Sunday was spent being lazy around the house. Mom and Mackie came over to help me organize the closets but we were all so tired that we just ended up sitting around snacking and drinking (sweet tea for me!). It was a nice day though, just what we needed.
